Earlier, Trump rejected a bill that would end the national emergency he declared at the southern US border.
The bill will be sent back to Congress for discussion and it requires a two-thirds majority in both chambers to override a presidential veto.
Many Republican lawmakers said the bill was not necessarily a rejection of the president or the wall, but protections against future presidents — namely a Democrat who might want to declare an emergency on climate change, gun control or any number of other issues.
