The US blockade on Iranian ships on the Strait of Hormuz would "remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached, certified, and signed", Trump wrote on Truth Social.
A day earlier, President Trump announced that a peace agreement with Iran has been "largely negotiated," subject to finalization between the United States, Iran and other relevant countries in the Middle East. Trump said that as part of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened, Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Final aspects and details of the deal are being discussed and will be announced shortly, he said.
Iranian media and officials report that the temporary agreement and ceasefire face cancellation risks because significant sticking points remain unresolved by Washington. The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim asserted that the US is hindering progress on key terms of the agreement, including the release of frozen Iranian assets.
Previously, the US, Iran, and the mediating country Pakistan indicated the possibility of reaching a temporary agreement between Washington and Tehran.
