Previously, the test of nCoV took from 3 to 4 days as it needs to sequence the whole genome of the coronavirus. The current methods using the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) technique take at least 4 hours.

The Vietnamese scientists’ Reverse Transcription Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (RT-LAMP) test kits give the result in 70 minutes (1 hour and 10 minutes).

The group wants the support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology to carry out clinical trial before the mass production of their products.
