During their meeting in Hanoi on Monday, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides prepare well for high-level exchanges and expressed his hope to welcome the Australian Prime Minister back to Vietnam and to attend the APEC 2027 Summit.

Prime Minister Hung proposed that both sides implement breakthrough measures to realize the goal of 20 billion USD bilateral trade and double bilateral investment. He called on Australia to continue to open its market to Vietnamese goods, agricultural and aquatic products, maintain a stable fuel supply, reduce trade barriers and refrain from anti-dumping investigations.

Ambassador Bird said Australia has been a partner and supporter of Vietnam in undertaking reforms to achieve development goals. She expressed her hope to continue promoting the increasingly substantive and effective development of bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment, education and training, and science and technology.

The Ambassador announced that Australia will provide nearly 100 million AUD in total development aid to Vietnam in the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
