The King said Mr. Lam’s official visit to Belgium comes at a time when traditional friendship and wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries are growing.

The Vietnamese leader highlighted the Belgian Chamber of Representatives as the only legislature in the world to date to have adopted a resolution supporting Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/dioxin. He described the move as a demonstration of humanitarian spirit and deep solidarity between the two peoples.

Mr. Lam proposed that both sides make better use of their potential for economic, trade, and investment cooperation, particularly in areas where they share strengths, such as seaports, science and technology, and semiconductors.

The two sides agreed to further promote cooperation in education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Mr. Lam also suggested that King Philippe continue to support the Vietnamese community in Belgium.

Both sides expressed their determination to elevate bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership in the coming period.

They reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, underscoring the role of the United Nations and the need to strictly uphold international law and the UN Charter to maintain global peace, stability, and cooperation.
