Speaking at a recent high-level open debate of the UN Security Council, Minister Counselor Nguyen opposed military attacks against sovereign states, particularly those not party to the conflict, and condemned attacks targeting UN personnel and facilities.

He stressed that civilians and critical infrastructure must be protected under all circumstances, in line with Security Council Resolution 2573.

The Vietnamese diplomat also emphasized the importance of ensuring safety, security, and freedom of navigation and aviation in accordance with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. These principles, he said, are essential not only for stability in the Middle East, including the Strait of Hormuz, but also for global energy supply, food security, trade, and economic stability.

Mr. Nguyen urged the international community not to let recent developments overshadow the Palestinian issue. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, backing for the State of Palestine to become a full UN member, and continued endorsement of the two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
