Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chairs a meeting in Hanoi on July 12, 2024, on the establishment of a carbon market in Vietnam.

He said that many countries around the world have already set up carbon markets and Vietnam cannot be left behind, given its significant potential for carbon credits.

The development of a carbon market will help Vietnam fulfill its international commitments to reducing net greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to the rapid changes in major export markets, and create momentum for a green transition, he said.

150 programs and projects in Vietnam have already been granted over 40.2 million carbon credits which have been traded on the global carbon market.
