Addressing a meeting in Hung Yen Province on Friday to mark World Population Day (July 11), Mr. Tuyen said Vietnam’s nearly 70 million working-age people provide a major advantage for socio-economic development, but population-related work still faces many challenges.

“Creating conditions for young people to develop their abilities, make their own choices and participate fully in social life, while ensuring full, equal and non-discriminatory access to reproductive health services, are key conditions for every country to effectively harness its population potential and ensure rapid and sustainable development in the future,” said Mr Tuyen.

At the ceremony, a United Nations representative praised Vietnam's efforts to develop population and development policies based on people's rights and choices.
