At a meeting with Iris Cui, Vice President of Apple Asia Procurement and Operations, in Hanoi on Tuesday, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister urged the US technology company to help Vietnamese businesses participate more deeply in its supply chains, expand workforce training, and promote high-tech cooperation.
He encouraged Apple to expand its supply chain in Vietnam, particularly in automation, quality management, process design and supply chain management.
He also called on Apple to support promising Vietnamese enterprises, helping them become direct suppliers to Apple, including in markets outside Vietnam.
Iris Cui proposed that Vietnam further improve investment support mechanisms for high-tech projects and address issues involving foreign contractor tax and customs procedures to facilitate Apple's operations and those of its suppliers.
