He made the remarks at the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 Summit 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday. Business leaders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders, including representatives of Fortune Southeast Asia 500 companies, gathered to examine the forces shaping the region’s business environment.

The summit aimed to connect corporate strategies with policy priorities, highlight investment opportunities, and share insights to help position Southeast Asia for resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive growth.

Deputy Minister Can said the US magazine’s choice of Vietnam as the host country reflected growing interest in and confidence in Vietnam among international businesses. He added that it highlighted Southeast Asia’s increasingly important role in the global economy.

He said Vietnam continued to stand out as a safe and attractive destination for global investors. GDP grew by more than 9% in the first nine months of this year, putting the country on track to achieve its double-digit growth target for 2026-2030. Macroeconomic conditions remained stable, inflation stayed within the target range, and state budget revenue met or exceeded estimates.

Deputy Minister Can said Vietnam also hopes to attract research centers, AI data centers, and operations of international financial institutions, in addition to manufacturing facilities.

“We are committed to protecting investors’ legitimate rights and interests and creating favorable conditions for foreign businesses, scientists, and partners to cooperate, invest, innovate, and develop over the long term in Vietnam. I hope foreign businesses and investors will see Vietnam not merely as a manufacturing base or consumer market, but as a partner in research, technological innovation, product development, and expansion into regional and global markets,” he noted.
