This was the first time the exercise was held, marking a new step in defense cooperation between countries in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia regions, including Vietnam.

PRAGATI stands for Partnership of Regional Armies for Growth and Transformation in the Indian Ocean Region. The exercise, held from May 18 to May 30, brought together over 400 military personnel from 13 countries: India, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.

Vietnamese personnel participated in airborne landings, patrols, border protection, ambushes, counter-ambushes, obstacle courses, and live firing. They earned praise for discipline, coordination and professionalism.
