Attendees discussed the feasibility of Vietnam's fisheries development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045 and long-term planning and mechanisms for developing aquaculture to increase fish production, ensure raw materials for processing, and avoid export risks.

Truong Dinh Hoe, Secretary-General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), said: Intensive shrimp farming is the most popular model right now. That model is facing environmental problems. Farmers care a lot about the selling prices, so we need to stabilize the price of raw materials so that model can thrive.”
