UN Tourism reported on June 2 that international tourist arrivals worldwide rose by 2% year-on-year in the first quarter, totaling 307 million travelers.
Meanwhile, figures from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism show that Vietnam welcomed nearly 6.8 million international visitors in the first quarter of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. This growth rate was six times the global average and four times higher than the average for Asia.
The upward trend continued in the first five months of the year, with international arrivals rising by nearly 15%, underscoring Vietnam’s growing attractiveness as a destination for travelers worldwide.
The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism said the impressive performance is thanks to the country's safe and stable environment, friendly hospitality, robust socio-economic conditions, and a wide range of appealing tourism products and experiences.
The strong growth also highlights the effectiveness of tourism promotion campaigns, market diversification efforts, visa facilitation policies, streamlined immigration procedures, and improved international air connectivity, the Authority said.
