Sri Lankan Ambassador to Vietnam Poshitha Perera told reporters that the visit will mark a significant milestone in bilateral relations, consolidating the strong political trust between the two nations and elevating their multifaceted partnership to a higher, more strategic level. It will also provide an opportunity for the two sides to reach a consensus on regional and global issues.

Ambassador Poshitha Perera said Vietnam–Sri Lanka trade relations are on a positive trajectory, but a breakthrough will require better alignment between Vietnam’s manufacturing strengths and Sri Lanka’s strategic location and market access.

He encouraged businesses in textiles and garments, rubber industry, electronics assembly and industrial manufacturing from both countries to collaborate in entering third-country markets.

In addition, he called for stronger cooperation in information and communications technology services, digital trade, financial technology (fintech), and startup development.

He said Sri Lanka hopes to expand cooperation with Vietnam in spiritual tourism and academic exchanges, and said new direct flights and visa facilitation measures will increase business mobility and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.
