Taking place as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the visit carries historic significance as it marks the first official visit to Thailand by Vietnam’s top leader serving simultaneously as both Party chief and State President.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung told VOV that the visit will provide an excellent opportunity for the leaders of both countries to discuss new opportunities to make the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in May 2025 broader and more effective.
Beyond traditional pillars such as investment, trade, and tourism, the two countries also share common goals in sustainable development, he said.
Both are focusing on digital transformation, green transition, energy security, and climate change response. Ambassador Hung noted that the two sides have strong potential for cooperation in the marine economy as part of their sustainable development agenda.
Thailand is currently among Vietnam’s top 10 partners in both trade and investment, with nearly 800 projects worth more than 15 billion USD invested in Vietnam. Bilateral trade exceeded 22 billion USD in 2025 and is expected to reach 25 billion USD in the near future.
