Mr. Tuc proposed that the two sides continue promoting exchanges and meetings at all levels to strengthen political trust and work closely toward the early conclusion of negotiations on a fair and balanced reciprocal trade agreement that serves the interests of both countries.
He also called for stronger cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, and urged the US to remove Vietnam from its D1 and D3 export control lists and recognize the country as a market economy.
Deputy Secretary Landau said the US wishes to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, energy, defense and security, science and technology, innovation, critical minerals, and aviation.
He agreed that the two sides should maintain close coordination to effectively implement high-level agreements, expand practical cooperation, and manage differences in an open and constructive manner.
The US official also praised Vietnam’s growing role in promoting regional and global peace and stability.
