(VOV) -The Vietnamese-Russian oil and gas joint venture (Vietsovpetro) plans to extract 5.4 million tonnes of crude oil and bring ashore 3.06 billion cubic metres of gas this year.

The information was released at a Vietsovpetro conference in Ho Chi Minh city on Monday. To achieve the target, the joint venture will begin constructing 3 exploratory wells and complete 22 others. Dang Minh Hong, Secretary of Vietsovpetro’s Party Committee: "We plan to organize some seminars and invite more experienced experts to create a breakthrough in oil exploration and exploitation. We are encouraging our staff to do their best in scientific research, design, and drilling to achieve the target".
