Following the scoreless draw with Thailand in their 5th World Cup qualifier at My Dinh stadium on Tuesday, Vietnam continued to lead group G with 11 points followed by Malaysia with 9 points. A total of 40 teams are drawn into eight groups of five to play home-and-away round-robin matches during the AFC second round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. The eight group winners and the four best runners-up will advance to the third round.
