Speaking at the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, FM spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said the agreement is expected to usher in a new phase of cooperation and provide a solid foundation for expanding trade, investment, and cooperation in multiple sectors between Vietnam and EFTA member states.
"This reflects the strong efforts and determination of both sides to sign the agreement after 14 years of negotiations. We highly appreciate the outcomes of negotiations with the EFTA member states. The Vietnam–EFTA Free Trade Agreement is another milestone in Vietnam's efforts to expand its network of free trade agreements, bringing the total number of FTAs signed by Vietnam with its partners to 18. It also strengthens comprehensive connectivity between Vietnam and Europe," said. Ms Hang.
In the coming period, Vietnam will continue working closely with the EFTA member states to expedite the signing of the Agreement and ensure the effective implementation of its commitments.
