According to Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang, the overarching goal of the Prime Minister’s visit is to leverage Vietnam’s role as a bridge between ASEAN and Russia, promote consensus, and contribute practical initiatives that will generate new momentum for ASEAN–Russia relations.

Vietnam will focus on three key priorities. First, it will work with ASEAN member states to advance a practical, balanced, and results-oriented approach to ASEAN–Russia cooperation. Vietnam will also advocate highly feasible initiatives that align with ASEAN’s needs, Russia’s strengths, and current regional and global realities.

Second, Vietnam aims to help expand cooperation between ASEAN and the broader Eurasian region into order to bring tangible benefits beyond political dialogue, creating new opportunities for businesses, localities, and people on both sides.

Third, Vietnam will engage with partners in discussions on regional and international issues, particularly those affecting peace, stability, energy security, supply chains, and sustainable development.

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang highlighted the significance of the summit, adding the event reflects the highest-level political commitment of both sides to the ASEAN–Russia Strategic Partnership. It also underscores Russia’s recognition of ASEAN’s central role in the Asia-Pacific regional architecture, as well as ASEAN’s appreciation of Russia’s role and standing in regional and global affairs.

The summit is expected to focus on reviewing the progress of the ASEAN–Russia Strategic Partnership, facilitating in-depth exchanges on regional and global issues of mutual concern, and adopting key documents that will guide ASEAN–Russia cooperation in the coming years to better meet the development needs of both sides.
