The goal was outlined at a seminar this week on developing the province’s agricultural and marine economies for 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045.

Vo Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, called on the province to develop a multi-value forestry economy linked to medicinal plants, high-quality commodity agriculture tied to processing, and a modern fisheries sector.

On medicinal plants, he said Quang Ngai should build value chains encompassing genetic resource conservation, plant breeding, deep processing, and brand development.

“We should not simply expand forest areas, plant trees, or sell raw materials. The goal is to develop the medicinal plant industry and create products with strong brands and high economic value.”

Ho Van Nien, Secretary of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, said that the challenge is not just to make better use of existing resources, but also to reorganize production, unlock resources, increase added value, and balance socio-economic development with the protection of natural resources and the environment.
