The province now has over 4,100 fishing vessels and 13,200 people employed at sea. Aquaculture, especially high-tech marine farming, is one of the pillars of this transformation. Services, seafood processing, and community tourism linked to marine culture are also encouraged to develop.

Dao Van Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone, Quang Ninh province, said, “Van Don has approved a sustainable aquaculture project on an area of 23,800 hectares. We consider adding 9,000 hectares to the planning of concentrated marine aquaculture areas and high-tech marine farming to be ready to support fishermen. We have determined that the strategy of marine aquaculture with high-tech marine farming areas will be a support for fishermen when transitioning to other professions.”
