Philadelphia is one of 11 US host cities, staging six matches, including five group-stage games and a Round-of-16 knockout match on July 4, which coincides with the 250th Independence Day of the US.
According to the Philadelphia Soccer 2026 Host Committee, the tournament is expected to generate around 770 million USD in economic impact through tourism, accommodation, retail, and other service sectors.
US Census data show that more than 15% of Philadelphia’s residents were born outside the US. The city is home to immigrant communities from around the globe, and this diversity has transformed the World Cup into a citywide celebration. Across its neighborhoods, cafés, restaurants, and public spaces have become gathering spots for supporters of different national teams.
Streets around Center City, South Philadelphia, and the stadium district are awash with the colours and flags of dozens of nations. English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and French can be heard in train stations, restaurants, and public squares.
