She was speaking on Thursday while working with ministries and sectors on key tasks of Steering Committee 515 (the National Steering Committee for the Search, Recovery, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains).
According to a report on the 500-day campaign to search for, recover, and identify martyrs' remains, 1,715 remains of fallen soldiers have been recovered, accounting for 24.5% of the target, and 58.4% of an estimated 124,000 martyrs' graves have been sampled.
Deputy Prime Minister Tra directed Steering Committee 515 to coordinate with localities in processing records of martyrs' graves.
“Compiling a comprehensive database on martyrs and their graves is the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense is tasked with developing software to integrate this information into a complete and robust data system, a mission that requires urgent action. Without such a data system, our work is extremely difficult. We’re determined to complete this database by the end of the year,” she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister asked Ho Chi Minh City to continue to search for and recover the remains of martyrs at Le Thi Rieng Park. Between June 23 and August 13, 8 mass graves were discovered in the park and the remains of 311 martyrs were recovered.
