Travelers will board at major railway stations and stop at famous historical sites in Quang Tri, including the Quang Tri Citadel and the Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery. Each carriage will be a miniature museum displaying photos of Vietnam’s struggle for national independence.
The dining carriage will serve local specialties such as banh loc (tapioca dumplings), chao bot (thick noodle porridge), and popular Hue cakes. Weekend journeys will feature live folk performances of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments like the dan bau (monochord) and dan tranh (16-string zither) and ho khoan (call-and-response) singing.
Chairman of the Vietnam Railways Corporation Dang Sy Manh said: “We’re fully committed to delivering products that meet public expectations, including attractive carriages, high-quality locomotives, and modern stations. We intend to have the trains operational by the end of August.”
Quang Tri province is strengthening tourism connectivity with Hue and Da Nang to form the “Central Heritage Route”. It will link cultural and natural heritage sites like Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park and revolutionary historical sites of Quang Tri with major attractions in its two neighboring localities.
This initiative will enhance regional tourism, improve the competitiveness of the central provinces, and boost railway tours through ticket promotions. Le Hong Vinh, Chairman of the Quang Tri provincial People's Committee, said: “With the support of Vietnam Railways and the commitment of Quảng Trị’s leaders and residents, this agreement will strengthen investment in new services and help Quảng Trị achieve its socio-economic development goals.”
The launch of tourist train services contributes to the “one journey–multiple destinations–multiple experiences” model, in line with the central region’s tourism development strategy of greater quality, regional connectivity, and sustainability.
