The congress is an opportunity to inspire solidarity among the people and contribute to building an increasingly prosperous nation.
Throughout Vietnam’s history of national construction and defense, great national unity has always been the source of strength and the decisive factor behind every revolutionary victory.
As Vietnam enters a new era of deep international integration, the need to further strengthen national unity has become more urgent than ever. In this context, the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is an opportunity to strongly rekindle the spirit of unity and collective effort among the entire population toward the goal of national prosperity.
National unity is the foundation of Vietnam’s strength
From the years of struggle for national independence to the ongoing process of renewal, the spirit of solidarity has become an enduring value and a treasured tradition nurtured through generations of Vietnamese people. Great national unity has consistently been a central ideology of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Associate Professor and Doctor Nguyen Manh Ha, former Director of the Institute of Party History, said: “President Ho Chi Minh repeatedly stressed the saying: ‘Unity, unity, great unity; success, success, great success.’ Unity brings success, while great unity brings even greater success. The Party has always paid close attention to strengthening the Fatherland Front on the foundation of the worker-peasant-intellectual alliance in order to serve revolutionary tasks in each historical period.”
The reality of Vietnam’s revolution has shown that when the people stand united, the nation can overcome any hardship or challenge. During the renewal period, the spirit of unity continued to drive major achievements in economic development, political stability, improvements in people’s living standards, and the strengthening of Vietnam’s position in the international arena.
Today, as Vietnam enters a new stage of development filled with both opportunities and challenges, new demands are being placed on the cause of national construction and defense. In this context, great national unity has become a strategic driving force for sustainable development. It is solidarity among all social classes and sectors, among ethnic and religious communities, and between Vietnamese people at home and abroad. It is also the close bond between the Party, the State, and the people based on shared interests and the common goal of national development.
Priest Tran Xuan Manh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Catholics’ Solidarity Committee, said: “As Catholics, we place great importance on the principle of ‘Respecting God and Loving the Nation.’ Loving the nation means supporting and standing alongside our people and fellow citizens, loving others as we love ourselves. Therefore, charitable and humanitarian activities are considered our duty and responsibility, in accordance with God’s will and in harmony with the Party’s vision and the aspirations of the people.”
Responsibility and historic mission of the Vietnam Fatherland Front
In this new stage of national development, the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front continues to affirm the Front’s role as the “common home” of the great national unity bloc.
By gathering and promoting the strength of all classes of people, the Fatherland Front contributes to strengthening public trust in the Party and the State, while fostering social consensus toward national development goals. Nguyen Binh Minh, Chief of Office of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said the congress has outlined practical goals, directions, and tasks with a strong focus on feasibility, while identifying three major breakthroughs linked to comprehensive reforms in the organization and operation of the Front to make it more people-centered and grassroots-oriented.
Mr. Minh said: “This term will focus on three major breakthroughs. First, we aim to improve mechanisms and strongly innovate the content and methods of operation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, with a particular focus on grassroots communities. Second, we will improve the quality and effectiveness of oversight and social criticism in a more proactive manner, from the early stages of policy formulation to implementation, with the participation of the Fatherland Front throughout the process. The final breakthrough is to build a contingent of professional and dedicated Front officials capable of meeting the demands of the new situation.”
National unity must also go hand in hand with the goals of sustainable economic development and social equity. The spirit of great unity has expanded into a source of strength connecting the Vietnamese nation with friends around the world, helping the nation mobilize more resources for development while enhancing its international standing.
Promoting the strength of great national unity in the new era is an objective necessity and a long-term strategic mission. With the Vietnam Fatherland Front playing its core role and with the shared determination of the entire population, the great national unity bloc will continue to be strengthened, creating momentum for the country to achieve rapid and sustainable development.
