In March 15 election, business leaders and members of industry associations won about 14% of National Assembly seats and about 10% of People’s Council seats. Ngo Quang Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Saigon Entrepreneurs Association and CEO of the Viet My Dental System, said: “I hope elected business representatives will promote incentive policies that will help enterprises and entrepreneurs contribute more to Vietnam’s development.”

Pham Thi Kim Nhung, CEO of Star Travel JSC, said cruise tourism is a high-potential segment, adding that the tourism industry needs new policies and market orientations to help businesses operate more effectively.

“Business-people have practical perspectives on the economy, and their opinions contribute to economic development. Creating favorable conditions for business-people to participate in and contribute to economic development is essential, as they understand the market,” said Ms. Nhung.

Nguyen Ngo Long, Chairman of Nhat Long Mechanical–Trading Co., Ltd., said that, with their professional qualifications and experience, elected representatives can drive Vietnam’s development, especially in industrialization and innovation.

The mechanical engineering sector needs some long-term policies to boost support industries and build a production ecosystem, said Mr. Long. “Entrepreneurs clearly understand business realities, so if elected, they can represent the business community and serve as a bridge between enterprises and regulatory agencies. They can promote a healthy, sustainable business environment in line with Politburo Resolution 68 on private economic development.”

The business community has shared an expectation that the deputies they elected will bring an innovative mindset and take practical actions. Policies that take into consideration production and business factors will generate momentum for private sector growth in Vietnam’s new development phase.
