“Colors of Moc Son” program draws visitors to Son La

(VOVWORLD) -A new cultural space called “Colors of Moc Son” just opened in Moc Son ward in Son La province. The venue will be open daily, with art programs held regularly on the third Saturday of each month, expanding Moc Chau’s night-time tourism offerings.

Moc Son ward, at the center of the Moc Chau National Tourist Area, offers convenient travel to popular attractions like the tea hills, the historic 52nd Tay Tien Regiment commemoration site, and Moc Chau island.

“Colors of Moc Son” has 20 installations showcasing local culture. The cultural space is divided into three zones – a Cultural Experience space, a Cuisine and Specialties space, and an Art space.

The Cultural Experience space lets visitors interact with local artisans and have a hands-on experience making five-color sticky rice, bamboo-tube rice, or bamboo craft products, spinning yarn, dyeing thread, weaving fabric, pounding glutinous rice cakes, spinning flax, painting with beeswax, embroidering, or writing the Dao script.

The Cuisine and Specialties space sells bamboo-tube rice, grilled dishes, five-color sticky rice, the chẩm chéo dipping sauce of the Thai ethnic group, thắng cố horse intestine hotpot, mèn mén steamed pounded corn, glutinous rice cakes, and the corn liquor of the Mong ethnic group. Other featured specialties are natural honey, tea, milk, and products of the national One Commune One Product (OCOP) program. The Art space hosts performances of folk songs, dances, and costume shows of local ethnic groups.

Nguyen Xuan Truong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Moc Son ward, said: “This cultural space is phase one. In phase two, we’ll continue investing in infrastructure and re-enacting traditional cultural features of the ethnic communities in Moc Son ward. To attract more tourists is our primary task.”
