The 54th annual World Economic Forum is taking place from Monday to Friday, with the theme “ Rebuilding trust”. This will be the largest international gathering since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Time to promote Vietnam, attract resources

The Forum will draw 100 senior leaders of countries and international organizations, and 3,000 executives from global firms.

Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said: "This year's meeting will stand out as the world’s largest event for sharing ideas, discussing the prospects of the global economy, exploring new trends, and envisioning global development. It will encourage economic, trade, and investment connectivity between nations and businesses, pool collective strength, particularly through public-private partnerships, generate growth, and address shared challenges amid the current difficulties, risks, and uncertainties."

Ms. Hang said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s attendance at WEF Davos 2024 is of great importance in many respects. It will be an opportunity for Vietnam to grasp global development trends and attract resources to serve national socio-economic development.

"This will present a crucial moment for Vietnam to showcase its achievements, development direction, strategies, and foreign policies, and deliver a message about a dynamic and innovative Vietnam that is an attractive destination for global corporations," said Hang.

Responsible contribution to peace, development

In Davos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will engage in multiple activities including delivering speeches at major sessions, chairing dialogues with executives of global corporations, meeting bilaterally with leaders of countries, international organizations and businesses.

As Vietnam is one of the partners that the WEF asked to co-organize a National Strategy Dialogue, PM Chinh will be one of 8 leaders who will hold a separate dialogue with the WEF, an acknowledgement of Vietnam’s achievements and development vision.

Deputy Minister Hang said the PM will propose both immediate and long-term solutions to strengthen international solidarity, build trust, and promote cooperation between nations, governments, and businesses.

Vietnam's responsible contributions to addressing global challenges, particularly in areas of its strength such as food security, smart agriculture, climate change adaptation, and just energy transition, will be highlighted.

The PM will share experience in macroeconomic management, and Vietnam's readiness to attract investment, especially in high-priority areas like high-tech, research and development, green transition, digital transformation, and the circular economy.

Hang said: "PM Chinhs attendance at the meeting and his sharing and proposals on global development and solutions to stimulate growth and address emerging challenges will affirm Vietnam's responsible and effective contribution to peace, development, and shared concerns, enhancing its reputation on the international stage, particularly within the global business community."

The forum will create a favorable external relations environment for economic cooperation achievements, practical investment projects, and new drivers of rapid, sustainable economic development.

It will also give Vietnam an opportunity to promote cooperation with Switzerland and other partners in various sectors, particularly the economy, trade, and investment in line with the foreign policy set by the 13th National Party Congress.
