Quang Ninh fuels a new wave of innovative startups

(VOVWORLD) -Thanks to a series of powerful measures, Quang Ninh province is steadily turning its vision of building a local innovation and startup ecosystem into reality. These efforts are contributing to the effective implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

Recently, Quang Ninh signed a strategic cooperation agreement with FPT, Vietnam’s leading technology group, to work together on human resource training and attracting technology enterprises to invest in the locality.

Nguyen Duy Phuoc, FPT’s representative in Quang Ninh and Director of Digital Transformation for the locality, said that supporting young, high-potential startups is one of FPT’s key responsibilities there.

“We will open several inter-level schools in Quang Ninh in the near future and call on other investors within FPT’s ecosystem. These activities are underway to help the locality and businesses in Quang Ninh take the fastest and most accurate steps forward,” said Phuoc.

Strengthening collaboration among the State, scientists, enterprises, investors, and international organizations is one of the core approaches Quang Ninh is pursuing to mobilize resources for implementing Resolution 57.

Pham Quang Tung, President of Quang Ninh’s Investment and Startup Club and Deputy Chairman of the provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association, said that local businesses are looking forward to the positive changes the Resolution will bring to the startup landscape.

The Club has regularly organized “Startup Café” sessions to connect entrepreneurs, spread the startup spirit, and improve management skills. But to form a truly innovative startup community, entrepreneurs hope for creative spaces, access to expert networks, capital incentives, and equal development opportunities.

Tung said, “Many startups have already joined supply chains as supporting units for industrial clusters, zones, or large enterprises. In the coming time, Quang Ninh will create more favorable conditions, provide land funds and infrastructure so that businesses can participate in supply chains such as logistics. We believe this is a major opportunity and will actively accompany the locality’s priority initiatives.”

In addition to launching the “Innovative Startup Campaign in Quang Ninh province until 2030”, the locality is stepping up incubation, mentoring, and innovation alliances in key sectors, including smart tourism and services, green industry, logistics, and smart cities. These initiatives aim to strengthen the startup ecosystem, build business incubator infrastructure, and connect resources so that creative ideas can thrive.

Vu Van Dien, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, said that the locality will continue allocating resources to prioritize science, technology, and innovation projects, even striving to roll them out as early as 2025 to create momentum for the 2026–2030 period.

“This includes developing ‘seed capital’ mechanisms, encouraging private investment funds and large enterprises to co-sponsor startup projects, and piloting public procurement mechanisms for innovative products in line with current regulations,” said Dien.

Quang Ninh already has a strong foundation, with GRDP growth in the first half of 2025 reaching double digits towards a full-year target of 14%. It consistently ranks among Vietnam’s top performers in the Provincial Competitiveness Index, administrative reform, and has improvements in grassroots digital transformation—the factors that create a favorable environment for businesses and startups to grow.

These new drivers—innovative entrepreneurship combined with digital transformation and strategies for a digital and green economy—are set to help Quang Ninh accelerate its breakthrough journey.
