Nguyen Thi Tuyet has worked for three years at the Viet Eyeware Company located in the Long Hau industrial zone. In that time, Tuyet has always received gifts and from the industrial zone in general and her company in particular on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

Tuyet was one of those selected to receive one of 1,260 Tet gifts worth more than 24,000 USD that Long Hau industrial zone presented to disadvantaged workers during the holiday time. Apart from that, workers went shopping at spring markets that sell essential items at a low cost. They  were invited to take part in games and music and art exchanges.

Tuyet said, “We feel very happy. Though the gift is small, it shows the trade union has always taken care of its workers. I would like to express my special thanks to the trade union and the industrial zone for the activities they organized and the gifts they gave us.”

The most awaited part was the year-end lucky draw. Valuable gifts such as televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines were offered. Outstanding workers were rewarded with bus tickets to return home for Tet, as well as lucky money.

Le Thanh Nam, a worker at Indochina Saigon Packaging Production Company in Long Hau Industrial Park, said,“I also took my family to join these fun activities. Thanks to such support, workers experiencing difficulties like me can enjoy a happy Tet.”

According to the Long An Provincial Labor Federation, last year, facing decreasing orders, businesses scaled down production. Over 41,000 workers in the area saw a reduction in their working hours. Despite these difficulties, trade unions at all levels maintained regular holiday activities. Nguyen Van Qui, Chairman of the Long An Provincial Labor Federation, said:

“Apart from the support by the Trade Union and Party Committee of Long An province, the Provincial Labor Federation has allocated nearly 2.9 million USD to help workers this Tet. More than 100,000 Trade Union members, especially disadvantaged ones, have received support on this occasion. We want to share with businesses experiencing difficulties and their workers at Tet.”

The spring atmosphere prevailed at factories and businesses across Long An province when year-end meetings and spring music performances were held.  The support from the Trade Union at all levels brings a happy Tet to the workers.
