10 ASEAN members pass Convention on Counter-Terrorism

ASEAN Secretariat on Tuesday announced that its 10 members have signed the ASEAN Convention on Counter-Terrorism (ACCT). ACCT was signed by ASEAN’s leader in 2007 and considered as a framework for regional cooperation on terrorism prevention and eradication. The convention also helps to strengthen anti-terrorism in the region and ASEAN’s strategic role in the global anti-terrorism. According to regulation, ACCT has been officially effective since May 27, 2011, 30 days after 6 out of 10 ASEAN members had signed and submitted to ASEAN Secretariat. ASEAN has achieved an important step its bids to establish Political-Security Community.
