(VOVWORLD) - The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam held its preparatory session at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on Monday morning.

Prior to the session, delegates paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum. Members of the Politburo and the Secretariat, along with heads of delegations from Party committees directly under the Party Central Committee, laid wreaths and offered incense at the Monument for Heroes and Martyrs.
The Congress observed a minute of silence in memory of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and members of the 13th Party Central Committee who passed away during the 13th Congress term.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired the preparatory session. Delegates unanimously approved the session’s program, along with the Congress’s working regulations, agenda, and election regulations.
They elected a Presidium comprising 16 Politburo members, a Secretariat of five members, and a Delegate Eligibility Verification Board with 13 members.
The Congress also unanimously approved the report on delegate eligibility, confirming that all 1,586 delegates are fully qualified.
