(VOVworld) – A closing ceremony of the 24th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM-24) was held in Hanoi on Friday with the presence of Vietnamese Minister of National Defense, General Phung Quang Thanh and several army leaders from ASEAN countries.

The top award is granted to the Indonesian army team

Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Head of the Organizing Board, said the 24^th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet was an important event, showing unity and friendship among ASEAN armies. Indonesia dominated the annual tournament with 19 gold medals. Thailand placed second and the Philippines placed third. Vietnam, the hosts, won only twice in five categories of rifles, carbines, men's and women's pistol and machine guns.
