(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday to mark the 71st anniversary of the Southern Resistance War against the French on September 23.

Participants recalled the day 71 years ago. Nearly one month after President Ho Chi Minh read the declaration of independence, the French colonialists opened fire and invaded southern Vietnam. The southerners, including the Sai Gon – Cho Lon people, fought back against the enemy. Upholding past glories, the members of Ho Chi Minh City’s Club of Resistance War Tradition, which organized the ceremony, have worked to increase patriotism in the younger generations.
