85% of expats happy with their life in Vietnam: InterNations' 2023 survey

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam comes 14th out of 53 destinations in InterNations’ Expat Insider 2023 survey. It even secures 1st place worldwide in the Personal Finance Index.

Expats are also happy with the Local Friendliness (5th) and Work & Leisure (6th) in this destination. Overall, 85% of expats are happy with their life in Vietnam, compared to a global average of 72%, according to the survey. 

“What I love the most is the low cost of living and the friendly people here," InterNations quoted an American expat as saying.

Victor Jose Saai, a Canadian tourist, shared a memory that made him extremely impressed with Vietnam, which was when he forgot his bag and wallet in a cafe and was called by the cafe staff to return them. This staff refused to accept a thank you money from Saai, whose experience gives a feeling that Vietnam is truly a safe country.

Jonathan Michael Nichols, an American who has lived in Vietnam for nearly six years, said what he likes most about Vietnam is that there are fresh produce markets where he can comfortably drive his motorbike to buy at any time.

A healthy lifestyle, open-mindedness and preservation of Vietnamese family cultural traditions are the reasons for foreigners to stay or settle down with their spouses and children. Ms. Eiko Matsuo, a Japanese, said that Vietnam is an ideal country to get married because in Vietnam women are respected in the family and society.

According to Mohammad Al Firdaus, an Indonesian, Vietnam is a country with a family spirit and he especially likes the way Vietnamese people always respect and worship their ancestors.
