During their talk on Sunday in Hanoi, the Vietnamese side applauded the US’s announcement of an additional 130 million USD for the Bien Hoa dioxin clean-up project, raising the US’s total non-refundable aid from 300 million to 430 million USD.

Joint operations to recover the remains of US service members missing in action (MIA) in Vietnam have been effective, with 160 joint missions completed and the remains of 994 soldiers repatriated, 740 of which have been identified.

Vietnam thanked the US for sharing information and helping to locate Vietnamese soldiers missing during the war. Since their 2021 memorandum of understanding, Vietnamese authorities have verified 44 of 45 information files received from the US and continue active search efforts.

The two sides agreed to continue to cooperate on war legacy, defense manufacturing, training, military medicine, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, cybersecurity, UN peacekeeping, and coordinating multilateral defense frameworks.

General Giang said he hopes the United States will continue to support the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense in training high-quality human resources and sharing experience in cybersecurity. Vietnam is ready to invite US officers to study Vietnamese and participate in the international defense officials course in Vietnam.
