The group described the car bombing as "vengeful action" for security operations in the mainly Kurdish southeast region that have been underway since July. The group also released the photo of the bomber, a 24-year old woman named Seher Cagla Demir.

Earlier this week, Turkey named one of the bombers as Seher Cagla Demir, a member of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) since 2013. Sunday's suicide car bombing took place in a busy commercial district and transport hub in the centre of Ankara. Dozens of people were wounded.
