Another Vietnamese park recognized as UNESCO Global Geopark

(VOVWORLD) - The Lang Son Geopark was officially recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark at the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network for the Asia-Pacific Region held in Cao Bang province on Sunday.

The geopark covers more than 4,800 square kilometers in eight districts and city in Lang Son province and accommodates 627,000 people, equivalent to 58% of Lang Son’s area and 78% of the province’s population.  

It has a rich ecosystem, especially the Huu Lien Nature Reserve with an area of 8,200 hectares, 794 species of plants, and 31 species listed in the Vietnam Red Book.

Lang Son Geopark is expected to receive the UNESCO Global Geopark certificate in Chile next year.
