ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM+) opened today/on Thursday in  Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei with the participation of defense ministers and officials from ASEAN countries and 8 partners countries including Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zeland, Russia, South Korea and the US.

Minister of National Defense General Phung Quang Thanh headed the Vietnamese delegation to the Meeting. Discussions at the Meeting focused on regional and global defense and security, especially the importance of defense cooperation for building an ASEAN Political-Security Community by 2015. At the first meeting in Vietnam in 2010, the ADMM+ was described as a tool to engage ASEAN Dialogue Partners in dialogue and cooperation on defense and security matters, aimed at ensuring peace, stability and development in the region and aiming towards an ASEAN Community by 2015.
