Australia, China to hold 7th Strategic Dialogue

(VOVWORLD) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday attended the seventh China-Australia Foreign and Strategic Dialogue with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Canberra, Australia.

Minister Wong said the Dialogue is a way to stabilize relations between Australia and China, based on the principle of respect for each other's sovereignty. Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that, after 6 meetings with Minister Wong in less than 2 years, trust between China and Australia has been strengthened, improving the relationship between the two sides.

Ms. Wong said the two countries are discussing an upcoming visit to Australia by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, but the time of the visit has not been disclosed.

The 7th Strategic Dialogue between Australia and China is taking place amid improved relations between the two countries in recent days. China has said it will remove its high tariffs on Australian wine in May, and Australia has dropped its lawsuit against China at the World Trade Organization over wind turbines.
