(VOVworld) – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has won a fifth term with 83.49 percent of the vote, the head of the central electoral commission said on Monday. Tatiana Korotkevich came second with 4.42 percent of the vote. Earlier, the central electoral commission announced 86.75 percent of the population taking part in the vote. The turnout was highest in the northern Vitebsk region where 91 per cent of voters cast ballots. It was lowest in the city of Minsk – 73 per cent – the commission said on its website.
