Ursula von der Leyen is counting on Belgium’s sprinting culture to complete as many dossiers as possible before European elections which scheduled to take place on June 9. The EC President had discussed with the Belgian prime minister about the EU budget situation for the 2021-2027 period, including key issues related to long-term support for Ukraine. This will be the main topic of the European summit taking place next month.

The same evening, the official opening ceremony of Belgium's European Council presidency took place at the Palace of Fine Arts (Palais des Beaux-Arts) with the participation of Ursula Von Der Leyen, along with all European Commissioners. The event included a concert paying tribute to great Belgian artists.
