Brazil holds 2nd round of presidential election

(VOVworld) – Brazilians went to the polls Sunday morning to elect their next president in a run-off vote. Incumbent President Dilma Rousseff is running for re-election against Senator Aecio Neves of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB). In the first round of the election, Rousseff took the lead with 41.6 percent of the vote against 33.6 percent for Neves.

Rousseff's campaign promised "a new cycle of development that will be more productive and more competitive" for Latin America's biggest economy. Neves wants to end the state’s strong involvement in business and banking activities, boost an economic model based on privatization, and reduce spending to revive economic growth.
