It said that Vietnam is famous for its age-old recipes, from hot noodle soup to Vietnamese-style French baguette.

The first and most popular food in Vietnam is Pho. Pho is made with flat rice noodles, a warm broth and usually chicken or beef. The flavour of this comforting noodle soup can vary greatly across the country from region to region and from restaurant to restaurant, the Culture Trip said.

Visitors can find Pho shops on every street or alley, and it can be served as breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late-night snack.

Influenced by the French, banh mi is a delicious example of Franco-Vietnamese food, infused with flavours, ingredients and tastes from the two countries. Filled with a choice of meat (or egg, for vegetarians), pate, fresh vegetables and sauces, the crispy baguette can be found at street stalls, restaurants, and even in the most remote areas.

The Culture Trip’s list also includes Bun cha (grilled pork and noodles) in Hanoi, Banh cuon (rolled sheets), and Bia hoi (fresh beer).
