(VOVworld) - The leader of the coup d’état force in Burkina Faso claims to release the interim President Michel Kafando and Prime Minister Issaac Zida, who are under their detention. The coup, launched by the presidential guards shows “serious pre-election security situation” as the country is preparing for its first elections since the ouster of the long-time leader Blaise Compaore from the presidency last year, said General Gilbert Diendere in a press interview with the French Jeune Afrique weekly.

The two interim leaders, who are being held at private homes, are in good health and would be released. General Gilbert also confirmed that the elections would be held later, without saying when.
