Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni calls for national unity

(VOVworld)- Cambodia on Saturday celebrated its 60th anniversary of independence with a call for national unity. Around 20,000 people took part in the celebration. In his address, Cambodian King Nordom Sihamoni reviewed Cambodia’s struggle for independence under the leadership of late King Norodom Sihanouk. The Cambodian King said that following its failure on Vietnam’s Dien Bien Phu battle field, the French colonialists were forced to negotiate and return complete independence to Cambodia on November 9, 60 years ago. The King highlighted Cambodia’s remarkable achievements in the last 6 decades. He said pursuing a policy of national reconciliation, the Cambodian Royal government, under the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party and Prime Minister Hunsen, initiated policies for peace, political stability, and national unity.
