
Both sides will actively examine the implementation of agreements within the framework of the 13th Joint Committee meeting in February 2014 and the 7th Conference on development cooperation in border provinces in March 2014.
Regarding the demonstrations in front of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia recently, Deputy Minister Vinh asked the Cambodian government to take appropriate measures to prevent similar activities in the future. They spoke highly of the close cooperation between the two countries at multilateral and international forums such as ASEAN, ACMECS, CLMV, CLV and the UN.
Concerning the East Sea issue, both sides supported ASEAN's common stance on maintaining peace and stability, maritime safety and security in the region, peaceful settlement of disputes in compliance with international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) towards formulating a Code of Conduct (COC). They agreed on improving the efficiency of cooperation mechanisms between the two foreign ministries and to hold a 5th exchange in Vietnam at an appropriate time.
Earlier on Thursday, Deputy FM Pham Quang Vinh paid a courtesy visit to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and conveyed regards from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
