Ceasefire begins in East Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - East Ukraine began a ceasefire at midnight Sunday, the Ukrinform news agency reported.

Representatives of Ukraine, Russia, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) agreed on a complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas during a video conference last week. The agreement provides for a ban on offensive and reconnaissance actions and the use of firearms, and disciplinary measures for violations.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed resolution of the conflict resolution in East Ukraine during a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
