(VOV) – Leaders and people in Phu Yen province burned incense to former lawyer – President Nguyen Huu Tho at a commemoration in Tuy Hoa city on the 16^th anniversary of his death on December 24.

During his revolutionary career, lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho held many important posts, including Vice President, acting President, and National Assembly Chairman. Nguyen Huu Tho was born in the southern province of Long An. He was imprisoned in Phu Yen from 1955 until local soldiers and people freed him on October 29, 1961. He had a great affection for Phu Yen and considered it his second homeland.
